Locate the concern accurately
Upper and lower blepharoplasty address different anatomy. Mafi describes upper-lid drooping and under-eye bags, and ASPS states surgery may involve either lid or both. Take note of whether your concern is skin resting on lashes, lower-lid puffiness, the position of the brow, or a combination. That description is more useful than asking for eye surgery in general.
Separate appearance from function
The Mafi page also discusses peripheral vision when upper-lid skin obstructs sight. If you notice difficulty seeing to the side or above, describe it clearly and ask what evaluation is appropriate. Do not infer that a cosmetic concern qualifies as a functional condition or that surgery will correct an unrelated eye problem.
Ask for the boundaries of the plan
Discuss the surgeon's assessment of the brow, eyelid support, and whether a proposed upper or lower operation addresses your principal concern. Ask about incision placement, recovery instructions, eye-care precautions, and follow-up. A brow lift can be a different procedure, so ask why one approach is recommended over another for your anatomy.
Questions and answers
Does upper-lid surgery treat under-eye bags?
Not by itself; ask whether the lower lid is part of the proposed plan.
Should vision symptoms be mentioned?
Yes. Describe the symptoms and ask for an appropriate eye and eyelid evaluation rather than assuming their cause.
