Start with a diagnosis of the concern
Mafi offers both microneedling and UltraClear laser resurfacing. Its pages discuss texture, fine lines and some scars, but overlapping marketing lists do not establish which option suits a particular skin condition. Ask a clinician to identify whether the issue is pigment, texture, scarring or another condition before comparing devices.
Distinguish device decisions
Microneedling repeatedly punctures skin with needles; the FDA has authorized specific devices for specified uses and notes risks including infection and pigment change. Mafi’s UltraClear page describes variable laser settings from superficial treatment to deeper resurfacing. Ask which exact device and setting are proposed and what evidence supports that choice for your skin type and target.
Compare the follow-up burden
Discuss skin preparation, expected redness or downtime, sun protection, products to avoid, number of visits considered and how problems would be handled. A lighter-sounding treatment is not automatically safer or more suitable. Ask for a written quote and the clinician’s aftercare instructions before deciding.
Compare a measurable endpoint
Ask what the clinician expects you to notice and when it can reasonably be reviewed. A photograph plan, treatment interval and follow-up visit are more informative than broad claims about “rejuvenation” that cannot be checked.
Questions and answers
Are all microneedling devices equivalent?
No. FDA authorization applies to specific devices and uses; ask which is proposed.
Does laser depth stay the same for every patient?
No. Mafi describes adjustable modes; ask what setting is planned for your concern.
