Give a complete skin history
AAD advises discussing medicines, supplements, cold sores, scarring tendency and previous cosmetic treatments before a peel. Tell the provider about pigment changes, irritation, active skin conditions and how your skin reacted to earlier treatments. Mafi offers VI Peel options intended to be customized after assessment, so there is no universal preparatory routine.
Ask what will be applied
Request the planned formulation, treatment depth, intended concern and reason it suits your skin. Ask whether to change any current skin products and when, but follow only instructions from the treating clinician. AAD notes some patients need a pre-peel skin-care plan; that does not mean everyone should start one independently.
Plan the next days
Ask how the skin may look, whether peeling or redness is expected, when makeup and ordinary products can resume, and what sun protection is advised. Discuss work or events already on your calendar. Get the written total for a single visit or proposed series and the practice’s contact route for unexpected reactions.
Use the follow-up plan
Ask whether the provider wants a check-in after the peel and how to send a question if the skin reacts unexpectedly. Save the exact peel name and instructions; a general online description may refer to a different formulation.
Questions and answers
Should I stop a retinoid on my own?
No. Disclose all products and follow the treating clinician’s instructions for your planned peel.
Will every VI Peel have identical downtime?
No. Ask how the specific formulation and your skin history affect the plan.
