Identify what was done
An injectable, microneedling session, laser resurfacing and chemical peel affect tissue differently. Record the treatment name, product or device, treated area and clinician before leaving. Ask for written instructions tailored to it. A single internet checklist cannot safely replace the practice’s plan for each procedure.
Clarify products and activities
Ask about cleansing, makeup, active skin-care products, sun protection, exercise and any follow-up appointment. FDA notes that microneedled skin can be sensitive to sunlight and certain products; AAD describes different aftercare by peel depth. Request specific timing from the treating clinician rather than adapting another treatment’s advice.
Know the contact threshold
Ask which reactions are expected, which warrant a same-day call and how urgent concerns are handled outside ordinary office hours. Keep the practice contact information and product details available. If the result seems uneven immediately after treatment, ask when it can be fairly assessed rather than adding a corrective treatment on your own.
Share a complete treatment record
Tell any clinician seeing you soon afterward what was used and when, particularly if another facial, device treatment or surgery is planned. Coordinating the sequence can prevent conflicting product or timing instructions from separate visits.
Questions and answers
Is one aftercare handout enough for every Med Spa service?
No. Ask for instructions matching the product, device and depth actually used.
Should I keep the product name?
Yes. Record the product name and treatment date so the treating team can answer questions accurately.
